Five generations of passion on the hills of the Langhe

When ”Il Generale” Domenico Dogliani decided in 1856 to turn his passion into his life’s work, a story began that continues to this day.

Five generations later, the family estate in the heart of the Langhe is led by brothers Ilario, Alberto and Mauro — with the fifth generation already stepping in.

The vineyards rise at 230–300 metres, and the estate’s crown jewel is a vineyard in the prized Bussia area of Monforte d'Alba. Native Piedmontese grapes become wines that mature patiently in French and Slavonian oak casks.

Bussia · Monforte d'Alba

The crown jewel on the slopes of Bussia

Bussia is one of Barolo’s historic top crus, and its slopes yield the crown of the series — Barolo Bussia DOCG. The nebbiolo is picked by hand, and the wine matures for 38 months, 18 of them in French oak, before it earns a bottle worthy of the name.

The estate also farms certified organic plots — the Rosato and Barolo Bussia carry the organic label. The harvest is brought in block by block, and the oak is chosen to suit the character of the vintage.

Three grapes

Arneis

White · ”the little rascal”

Piedmont’s own white grape, which nearly vanished before its 1970s renaissance. Fresh, mineral and floral — a natural partner for fish.

Barbera

Red · everyday nobility

The hardest-working grape of the Langhe: lively acidity, soft tannin and sunny berry fruit. The Superiore matures to velvet in French oak.

Nebbiolo

Red · the soul of Barolo

The grape of the mists (nebbia), the last to ripen on the slopes. Rose, tar and a long, dignified finish — the foundation of Barbaresco and Barolo Bussia.
