Festival chef

Friðgeir I. Eiríksson

Eriksson Brasserie · Reykjavík

Friðgeir I. Eiríksson is the owner and head chef of Eriksson Brasserie and one of the best-known figures in Icelandic gastronomy. He previously led the kitchen of the Michelin-starred Domaine de Clairefontaine near Lyon and represented Iceland at the Bocuse d'Or in 2007.

Since then he has shaped his home country’s restaurant scene, among other things as head chef of Hótel Holt in Reykjavík. During the festival week his kitchen meets OOBU’s.

The kitchen was home ground for Friðgeir already as a child — his father made his career as a cook in Iceland. Eriksson Brasserie’s menu is European in style, with an emphasis on Italian and French cooking, and the bar pours the house’s own EIRIKSSON Kaldi beer, brewed exclusively for the brasserie.

I said last year I would come back even if I had to row from Iceland. Luckily OOBU called before I made it to the water.”
— Friðgeir I. Eiríksson · Food & Fun 2025
